The Chairman's speech

Fresh pomegranates on traditional fabric

Chairman's address

The agricultural sector, as the main sector of the country's economy, is of irreplaceable importance for the survival of society. This sector, especially the agricultural sector, satisfies the growing demand of the population for food products and the needs of a number of industrial sectors for raw materials. The development of many sectors of the country's economy depends to a certain extent on the level of the agricultural sector. Agriculture is also considered an important source that meets the needs of various sectors of the economy and the population. In modern times, as a result of the regulatory economic measures implemented by the head of state in the agricultural sector, much has been done to achieve the socio-economic development of our country. In accordance with the instructions and recommendations of the Honorable President Mr. Ilham Aliyev, sectoral associations have been established in Azerbaijan, one of which is the Azerbaijan Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association. The practical result of this support is that Azerbaijani pomegranates are now taking their place in the global arena. Azerbaijan has a beautiful, rich nature. Our homeland has many useful, tongue-tied blessings. One of them is pomegranate. Since ancient times, pomegranates have been considered the king of all fruits in the East. Even in its external appearance, it stands out from other fruits like a fiery red crown standing high. Pomegranate growing is one of the oldest horticultural fields in Azerbaijan. In the 70s and 80s of the last century, when the National Leader Heydar Aliyev led our republic, this field went through a period of special development. At that time, there were about 70 pomegranate varieties in Azerbaijan. Pomegranates and pomegranate products obtained from these varieties gained wide fame in the former USSR. However, in the 90s of the last century, many rare pomegranate varieties were destroyed. Currently, this field is covered by special state care. New pomegranate gardens are being established in the regions, old pomegranate gardens are being restored, and continuous measures are being taken to export products to the foreign market in larger volumes. Since its establishment, ANIA has set itself the goal of properly promoting Azerbaijani pomegranates in the world. For this purpose, ANIA makes its contribution to the promotion of Azerbaijani pomegranates and pomegranate products at the most famous exhibitions in the world. ANIA plays a coordinating role with everyone from small farmers to large companies growing pomegranates in our country, in the stages of planting and cultivating pomegranates, agrotechnical care, harvesting, storage, studying innovative irrigation systems and entering the markets. Our association provides free services to farmers who want to engage in pomegranate farming and supports the recognition of pomegranates in the world market under the brand name "Made in Azerbaijan". Sincerely, Farhad Garashov, Chairman of the Public Union of the Azerbaijan Pomegranate Producers and Exporters Association
